Well, as most of our family and friends know by now, I'm pregnant again (yay!), which has been the primary reason behind my excessive slackness of blogging! Very exciting. We're due at the end of October, and right now Mini Biscuit is certainly making him/herself known with lots of feisty kicking. I chose an excellent time to be pregnant over here, as there seems to be a permanent sea breeze blowing since we returned from a visit to Adelaide in April. It is a delicious break from the oppressive heat and humidity here. I'm enjoying the morning sickness being OVER, and have taken to porking up with great gusto. The losing afterwards is going to be tough, but I'm enjoying the gaining for now.
Our other big news is that very likely after I go back to Adelaide to have the baby, Nini and I probably won't be back. Dan, we're still not certain about. He may be staying on as a rotator (4 weeks in PNG - (boo!!) - then 4 weeks off back in Adelaide (hooray!!). This is good and bad news. We've made so many amazing friends here, and are actually enjoying ourselves quite a bit. But obviously we can't stay here forever. My training programme is getting antsy, and they want me back at work next year. Also, it would be nice to go back to a developed country with a toddler and a new baby, and not have so much craziness to contend with. It will all happen quite quickly once the ball gets rolling - I need to be out of here by mid September, the airlines won't fly preggos after that stage of gravidity.
Ok, so back to what have we been up to? Well.. a lot! Probably too much for me to cover in one hit. New friends have arrived, good friends have left. We've heard some scary news from around Pt Moresby and PNG at times, and then things settle down again.
I've stopped working, and we let our nanny go. I don't really have the energy to go into it all right now, but it involved a bit of dishonesty and disappointment.
Something great we went to over the weekend was a Cultural Show. There are quite a few of these each year around PNG. The Goroka Show is supposedly the best. I was hoping to go to that this year, but sadly will be back in Australia already. Another one coming up is in Wabag, and we're debating going to that one, although I doubt it will happen now. So, this one was put on by a Catholic technical school here in Moresby. Some of the dancers were students at the school, but a lot were from various cultural groups and different provinces. They were AMAZING! I'll pop a few pictures up for you...
Nini with some of the dancers, not quite sure what was going on...
Some dancers getting charcoaled and ready for the dancing
A young dancer
Some of the performers
It really was a fantastic day!
I think that's all I'll write about for now... My head's not really here at the moment. It's worse than baby brain sometimes, it seems like pregnancy induced dementia...
Thanks for reading, and please feel free to say hi in the comments!
