Dear Drivers and Dispatch Operators,
Thanks for the "service" you provide to us, both employees and family. We really appreciate it. Just a quick word about some issues...
Hey, I know I'm imposing my so-called Western concept of linear time (as opposed to the Papua New Guinean concept of whenever the fuck we feel like it) and my overprivileged expectations that, being employed to do a job that you'll actually know how to do it, so please feel free to let me know if I'm overstepping the line.
If I call 2, 3, 6 or 12 hours ahead, and request a car for a certain time, and you write it down on your bloody whiteboard and say "no problem", you probably should have it there within a 10 minute window of my requested time, because you had LOTS OF TIME to PLAN. In addition you have LOTS of cars, and LOTS of drivers who are sitting around scratching their arses at any given time. I should not be still hanging around 30 minutes, 60 minutes or 90 minutes past the time I requested the car and now late to the airport, missed my appointment, late to the party.... I would probably be more ok with this every now and again, but if you want to do it every single day, you and I are not going to remain friends much longer.
I'm not a stressed out sort of person usually, but when you leave me stranded in a carpark in one of the world's most dangerous capital cities with a 16 month old in a trolley outside a supermarket because you "recalled the driver", I'm going to get a little bit pissed off about it. Especially if you do it at least 3 times.
Don't even get me started on the carseat thing. Bane of my existence.
And worst of all, this isn't by choice, you are FORCING us into it!
So, today, when you dropped us off at baby club, I thought this was just a normal day, and booked a return car for 11am, so that we could get home in time for my little girl's nap. I was of course prepared for some sort of minor drama, but imagine my surprise when my husband texts me at 10:30 informing me that you are now on strike.
ON STRIKE???
I want to go on strike!!
And who on earth calls a strike but
a) doesn't give advanced notice regarding a strike
b) doesn't tell you on the morning of the strike, and drops you off at your destination as normal, giving no indication that you may have trouble returning from your destination
It's like the teachers' union going on strike at 1030 in the morning, and calling all parents saying "we're on strike now, come and pick your kids up or we'll lock them out of school grounds in 10 minutes"
FUCK YOU, DISPATCH!!!
Sincerely,
Alpha Bravo 8765 Whiskey
